In this study of Moral Philosophy he concludes that the notion of "the Common Good" is not only the whole law of Nature but the revealed Law of Moses and the great design of Christ's coming into the World. The second part of the work is an interesting point by point comparison of Hobbes' Principles with the law of nature as he sketched it in the first part. Tyrrell was a popularizer who made the political theories accessible to the general public (see Julia Rudolph "Revolution By Degrees: James Tyrrell and Whig Political Thought in the Late 17th Century").
