The research lists the chapters, but I'm not sure if they are the same because of the different language. MANY PLATES ON MANUEVERS. THE BOOK IS JUST FULL OF PLATES ON MANUEVERS, TACTICS, EQUIPMENT, CAMPING, STRATEGY, RIFLES, EXERCISING/STRETCHING. (I got a whole file of photos, I'll email on request). INFORMATION JUST FOUND ON THE INTERNET THAT'S CLOSE(STILL NO 1615 EDIITON FOUND). HERE IS THE NET INFORMATION: handbooks compiled for training the army of the Dutch Stadhouder, Prince Maurice of Orange (1567-1625), one of the greatest commanders of the time who re-established discipline and perfected instruction. While serving Prince Maurice the author founded a military school at Siegen in Westphalia thought to be the earliest in Europe. I: French translation of Kriegskunst zu Fuß (Oppenheim 1615), a handbook on infantry tactics which Jähns rates as the most important work on the subject to appear before the Thirty Years' War. It is divided into 4 parts treating: the exercise of the musket and pike, infantry drill as practised under the command of Prince Maurice of Orange (to whom this edition is dedicated), battle orders, and guard duty based on Hungarian regimental models. The finely engraved plates, thought to be by Johann Theodor de Bry, show details of arms and armour, musket and pike drill positions, formation drill (the author recommends round formations for defence against cavalry), intricate battle orders for units of varying sizes, encampments, and billeting in towns. A few plates are browned, but the majority are very well preserved. With contemporary ownership manuscript entry 'Canutus Johann Kurk' in tailend blank margin of title. Jähns 1035-42; Lipperheide Qb30 (note). II: French version of Kriegskunst zu Pferdt (Frankfurt 1616), one of the earliest handbooks on cavalry tactics to contain precise instructions (see similar works by Basta and Melzo in this catalogue). The translation, thought to be by Johann Theodor de Bry, was first published in 1616. The delicately engraved, attractive plates rep.
