Two small unobtrusive old paper labels with hand written numbers on them at the top & bottom of the spine. Later marbled endsheets behind boards. Original flyleafs present. Internally in good condition but with some darkening to the text block. Book has been collated and it is complete. Full-page etchings by Romeyn De Hooghe. Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708) was an important and prolific late Dutch Baroque engraver and caricaturist in the 17th century. He was skilled as an etcher, draughtsman, painter, sculptor and medalist. He is best known for political caricatures of Louis XIV and propagandistic prints supporting William of Orange. During his career, de Hooghe produced over 3500 prints. He also illustrated books, and his illustrations can be found in some of the most important texts of his period. Illustration of 120 copper engraved medals by Adriaen Schoonebeeck in the text. 232 pages. Decorative front and end papers. Size: Folio - over 12" - 15" tall [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
