George H. Doran Co. New York (1926) - First American Edition. Two Volumes, original blue cloth, tall octavo, illustrated. Doyle's two volume survey of the Spiritualism movement and the author's most comprehensive work on the subject. "Doyle has brought to bear all of his remarkable powers of narration, concentration and historical accuracy. The result is he has produced what must ever remain the standard history of the great subject of spiritualism and the supernatural". This copy with a vintage postcard laid in of the Fox House, the children of the house would become known as the earliest spiritualists. An extremely scarce Doyle set to be found in original printed dustjackets. Very Good or Near Fine, some foxing to page edges, in Very Good dustjackets, shallow chips at lower spine end of volume one jacket, some darkening to spine, volume two jacket with some shallow spine end chips and some red coloring to front panel.
