A journal of the journeys of Thomas Simpson, Esq.,on his expeditions in the northern parts of Canada in association with theHudson's Bay Company, from 1836-1839. It includes his encounters with various hostile and passive native tribes, the establishment of and checking inon HBC outposts, voyages up and down many of the northern rivers lakes such as the Red and the Mackenzie, and sea voyages amongst many of the northern islands. This particular volume also includes an introduction by the author's brother, Alexander Simpson, who includes a short memoir of his brother, in which he tells of Simpson's exploits in the short time after the yearscovered in the main text, including information surrounding Simpson's mysterious death in 1840, shortly before he was to return to England.
