New York: The Macmillan Company,, 1933. Octavo. Original blue cloth, titles to spine and upper board gilt, black top-stain. With the dust jacket. 8 plates, facsimile and diagram within the text. Very lightly rubbed at extremities. An excellent copy in the jacket with some small chips, tanned spine panel, and dampstain to the lower edges. First edition, first printing, of the book which continues the story of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, resurrected thus by Vincent Starrett, who has inscribed this copy humorously on the front free endpaper, "For Don Colvin, "There can be no grave for Sherlock Holmes or Watson..." (p.93) Vincent Starrett".
