James Iredell (1751-1799) was a noted North Carolina patriot and jurist. The NC State Assembly requested that he compile and revise the laws of North Carolina in 1787. Washington appointed him to the Supreme Court in 1790. (See Chisholm v. Georgia, and Iredell's analysis of the 11th Amendment) This "Iredell edition" is the fruit of his work.
