Bound in full, dark brown, diced calf with four raised bands on the spines, and dark green and red leather title labels, gilt-lettered with titles and volume numbers, gilt decorations across spines, double-line gilt borders around covers, gilt tooling on cover edges; headbands, dark brown silk bookmarkers bound in, all edges marbled, with similar marbled paper endpapers. Former owner's printed book labels on each marbled paste-down. Earlier bookplates have been removed from the marbled paste-downs; first blank flyleaf has been removed from volume one; penciled name at top of half-title in volume one: John Ker Glasgow. Spine ends show light wear, some scattered tan spotting to the plates, pages. Overall, in well-preserved condition, in a handsome 19th century leather binding.
