London: Printed for R. Bonwick Et Al.. Fair with no dust jacket. 1717. Hardcover. Lacking the title page, the frontispiece and one folding plate. The Epistle Dedicatory leaf is heavily stained and chipped at the margins. Head margins of all preliminary leaves up to page xlv water damaged, with chips up to 1" and old mould stains. The only loss of text is to letters in the header running along the top of each page. Damp stains with tide mark to upper third of all leaves up until page 80. Boards very worn with loss at corners. The first folding plate is torn in half and is tatty, with large tears and small chips. The other four folding plates are creased and edge worn. Foxing throughout, heavy in Part Two. ; Two parts in one volume. (iii) - xlv, [i], 326, (323) - 324, [2], xvi, 300, [4] pages + 5 folding plates. Part One is missing the title page and frontispiece. One folding plate is also missing. Contemporary full leather boards, rebacked with recent leather spine. Remains of original spine label laid down. "Made English from the Eigth Edition of the Original." "Amongst all the Creatures there is none which yieldeth more Profit and Pleasure to Man than the HORSE; he is stately in Triumphs, adroit and bold in the most dangerous Engagements, and strong and hardy to endure any kind of Fatigue or Labour." - from page one. ; Folio 13" - 23" tall .
