New York, Doubleday, Doran & Co., 1935 - Large octavo. Original tan pigskin backing burgundy linen bevelled boards, title gilt to spine, burgundy top-stain, other edges uncut, in manilla dust jacket, title printed to spine in plain card slipcase. Spine slightly tanned from contact with the jacket which is brittle and cracking at the spine, lacking a small strip below the author's name, no loss of text, upper panel near separated, slipcase browned and a little rubbed. With a portrait frontispiece and numerous other plates, many in colour, 4 maps. O'Brien's Second American Edition [Limited Issue], this being number 37 of 750 copies, the American First was an edition of 1926 limited to just 22 copies with only 10 for sale at $20,000.
