Grey Spider Press, Seattle. First Edition; letter P of 26 lettered & signed copies. 1991 - [Partial Colophon]: "Calling Down The Birds was cut into wood during the Spring of 1991 [-]. Hand-inked & printed letterpress on Rives Heavyweight Buff. The hanset type is Futura Demi, a design by Paul Renner. The edition is limited to twenty-six copies. This is letter P [signed]: C Christopher Stern." 6 1/4 in. x 11 5/8 in., half-title; title-page with a three color woodcut of yellow sun in blue sky, with blue birds, green tree below; dedication page, followed by 12 full-page woodcuts printed black on white, on one side of the sheet; signed colophon page + 1991 copyright page. Dark blue cloth, with light blue bird design on the spine, and printed title label, mounted in a recessed area on the front cover, special gray-blue & white, textured paper used as endpapers, with signatures sewn into the blue paper and into the binding. Rare first edition of this story told in woodcuts. One of the 26 lettered and signed copies, issued in 1991. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]
