"Full length portrait (colored) of one of the Magdalens as frontispiece. 8vo, contemporary red morocco, broad gilt-tooled dentelle borders, palm branch oval in center of both covers ensigned by the royal crown and enclosing the following in gilt Ietters, "Her Majesty Queen Charlotte Patroness, 1765," gilt edges, from the Monks Manor Library of Joseph Ruston, with his Sherborn book-plate. Printed by W. Faden for the charity. 1763. (Queen Charlotte's copy, specially bound for presentation to her, when she first patronized the Charity in 1756. The book forms singular contribution to the history of Prostitution in London." This was the description of this book when it was offered for sale by Brentano's in 1917 and the book is in very much the same condition as it was then, with an exception, overlaying the bookplate of Joseph Ruston is the bookplate of noted collector A.
