Unger and Siegrist after Popp, Sebastian Minsinger, Jos. Unger and Victor Kaltdorff, depicting 12 hortensias and 1 Cardiandria. Quires and plates loose in original publisher's letterpress-printed grey paper wrappers.

Rare offprint of an extensive description of Japanese plants from the family of Hydrangeaceae, a family of flowering plants in the order Cornales, describing 12 species of hortensias (Hydrangea), 1 Cardiandria, 1 hydrangea vine (Schizophragma) and 1 Platycrater. It was originally published in Siebold and Zuccarini's well-known Flora Japonica, and here published separately with its own title-page and wrappers with its own pagination and quire signatures. It contains the text from Flora Japonica instalments 11 to 13 and part of instalment 14 (published 1839-1840), together with two descriptions published in instalment 5 added at the end.Some plates foxed and a few browned, the text leaves with a few spots. Spine of wrapper tattered. Good, untrimmed copy.
