Harper's Weekly,. 1863.. Very good overall. Hand colored Civil War map depicting the ships along the US coastline which effectuated the strategy (the Anaconda Plan) of General Winfield Scott of blockading Southern ports and taking control of the Mississippi River in order to divide and weaken the seceding Southern states. Extending from the east coast as far west as Kansas and Texas. With elaborately decorated wide borders and corner portraits of President Lincoln, Secretary of State Seward, and Generals Scott and McClellan, and an inset titled 'Florida, Southern Part'. With three wood engraved views on the verso: "Pictorial Map of Portions of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina…" (double page); "Balloon View of Fortress Monroe and Hampton Roads"; and "Balloon View of the Seat of War." With a short slit at the fold at the bottom edge, slt toning along the horizontal seam o/w very good. 30 1/4 x 22".
