Typed Letter Signed ?Harry S Truman,? 1p, 6.75? x 10? visible. Independence, Missouri, June 19, 1968. To Miss Stella K. Hershan, Forest Hills, New York. Soiled mostly in upper and left blank areas. Matted with a black & white photograph of President Truman and Eleanor Roosevelt at the White House, flanked by the U.S. and presidential flags, with a framed photograph of the President?s mother on a desk behind them. Framed to 23? x 16?. Apparently in very good condition with a fine signature.In full, ?I have on many state occasions and in my writings paid tribute to Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, for her devotion and dedication to the solution of the many problems that afflict human beings throughout the world. I have, as you know, officially proclaimed her the ?First Lady of the World?.?Two years after receiving this letter, Stella K. Hershan published her biography, ?A Woman of Quality: Eleanor Roosevelt? (1970). She later wrote ?The Candles She Lit: The Legacy of Eleanor Rooseve
