From the Snows to the Seas. With Prints by J.G. Lubbock
London: Rampant Lions Press. 1986. One of 95 copies only on R.W.S. hand-made paper. Each copy signed by the artist/author. Bound by George Percival in gilt-stamped blue silk after a design by the artist, blue morocco spine. Illustrated with four triple fold-out copperplates worked by etching and aquatint. The colors are printed in intaglio and relief, and additional color is applied to some pages by hand. The typography and printing of the text is by Will Carter at the Rampant Lions Press. Page size: 14 inches x 10-1/2 inches. Mylar jacket, publisher's slipcase. The images and thoughts in this book spring from mountains spanning great segments of our sphere to wilds where trusting creatures create an idyll of Eden. Inspired by the Himalayas, the Galapagos Islands and Antarctica, the book captures the grandeur of the planet. Lubbock's previous seven books are out-of-print -- as this soon will be. The prints are stunners -- somewhat oriental in feel -- yet abstract.
