Richly illustrated manuscript ship's log of three British battleships in the Royal Navy, the HMS Vindictive, HMS King George V and HMS Emperor of India. The log opens in Portsmouth, England, where they depart for Constantinople, by way of Gibraltar and Malta. They stay in the waters around Turkey and Greece in the wake of the Turkish War of Independence, when, from 1918 to 1923, Constantinople was occupied by British, French and Italian forces. The log was kept by Victor I.H. Mylius, probably an engineer, given his detailed technical plans of various parts of the ships, including the weaponry. The maps and charts by his hand, depicting various parts of Greece and Turkey, are also very detailed and occasionally give tactical battle information. On six of the first pages the handwriting is traced in another hand, the text and illustrations are otherwise in very good condition. Binding somewhat soiled and both the spine-label and notice on the front board mutilated.
