FIRST EDITION 1604, Latin text, small 8vo, 175 x 100 mm, 7 x 4 inches, small printer's device on title page, a few woodcut head - and tailpieces and initials, pages (64), 821 (3) - errata, lacking a folding chart which is often missing from this edition and from the second of 1614, bound in full contemporary calf, with embossed decorative lozenge in centre and blind ruled border on covers, raised bands to spine, no label or lettering. Binding rubbed and worn, lozenge chipped on upper cover, small piece of leather missing at 3 corners, small repair to foot of spine, upper hinge starting to crack at head, a very tiny hole in spine, pastedowns missing, a page from an old book bound in at front and rear, original endpapers still present, pale damp staining to outer edges of margins from title page to page 150, persisting at the very edge throughout, barely visible on many pages, showing again on the last few pages, small piece removed from top corner of title page, neatly repaired, 2 numbers in lower margin, some pages lightly browned, small closed tear to 1 inner margin, a couple of inner joints cracked but binding firm, small hole in bottom 2 lines of 1 leaf, with loss of part of 2 words on recto and verso. A good copy of a work on the Juridical Laws of Moses. Wilhelm Zepper (1550 - 1607) was a German Protestant theologian, teacher and court chaplain, author of at least 7 works on the Reformed Church.
