- BOOK OF HOURS. LATIN. A leaf from a medieval manuscript Book of Hours, Use of Paris. In Latin and on Vellum. Mid 15th cenutyr. 127x90mm.[ Fifteen line written in brown ink in a lettre batarde between sixteen horizontals and two vertical ruled in in dark. There are fantastic panel borders of blue and beautiful gold curling acanthus and sprays of naturalistic flowers and fruit (recto & verso). Verso: Just as glorious as the recto side. Provenance: Charles Butler, collector of pictures and books, whose fine library was sold in five sales between May 1911 and July 1921. Present leaf from lot 2379 Sotheby's 19 March 1912. Condition of this leaf is just under Fine. Mounted in a double-sided, conservation matte board, 8x10 inches, ready to be framed. (GMM 2279)
