Ten volumes, octavo, titles in red and black, photogravure illustrations including ten frontispieces and 54 landscapes and portraits, 4 facsimiles, some folding, crisp; a very good set in quarter red pebbled morocco with matching red cloth boards, spines lightly sunned, gilt. An attractive set of the works of Robert Burns, a pioneer of the Romantic Movement. The set includes six volumes of poetry and four volumes of his correspondence, some material of which had not been published before. The set includes an essay on Burns' life, genius and achievement by W.E. Henley, the English poet and critic and an introduction by the Scottish novelist John Buchan. Illustrated with many beautiful photogravures from original photographs arranged and taken by Charles S. Olcott, known also for his book The Lure of the Camera (1914). The photos are said to have been taken "during a thorough exploration of the Burns country undertaken for this express purpose in the summer of 1926" (Publisher's note).
