Very good./No Dust Jacket. 253 pages. 29.5 x 24 cm. Fourteen plates: 3 folding maps, plus 11 plates (each folding or double-paged), and 11 folding tables. The expedition crossed the ice barrier separating Spitsbergen from Novaya Zemlya, and reached 80 degrees, 48 minutes north, but could not find a clear path through the ice. Horatio Nelson, then 14, took part in the expedition. SABIN 62572. " An important addition to nautical science which does honor to its author. Besides a journal of the voyage, it contains a descriptive catalogue of the natural productions of Spitsbergen." Ink ownership inscription and bookplate on fep. Pencil underlining to author's name on title page, pages and plates generally clean, mild toning to a few plates.
