In French, not translated. Lightly foxed and soiled. Horizontal folds not touching either signature. Old French catalogue description tipped onto lower left of first page. Fine condition.Offered are the concluding pages of the proceedings of the Royal Council of Finance held at the King?s royal residence at the Château de Marly, about 12 miles west of Paris. The document relates to the right of franc-sallé granted to the recipients of the gabelles, very unpopular taxes on salt.Also signed ?Boncherat de beauviller,? ?le Peletier,? ?De Pomereu,? and ?Daguesseau? as members of the Royal Council.Louis Phélypeaux (1643?"1727), Marquis de Phélypeaux and, from 1699, Count de Pontchartrain, also served as Secretary of State for the Navy (1683-1699).
