Z dejin spiritismu v minulosti. Drevoryty provedl Josef Vachal
Prague: The author 1914 - Octavo, wrappers, 104pp. (From the History of Spiritism in the Past) The author surveys spiritism, the occult, magic and its evolution into Spiritualism over the course of history, with special focus on John Dee and Edward Kelly, who both attended the Court in Prague in the 16th century where they worked with angelic correspondences and mediumship. Vachal was drawn to Theosophy and Spiritualism all his life but especially in his early years when he was subject to spirit visitations. These essentially informed his visionary outlook, coupled with a highly critical temperament towards the hypocrisy and corruption of conventional mores. Váchal designed the title page, provides a full page woodcut and 18 smaller woodcuts throughout the text. Uncommon, with one copy held in North American institutions. This copy has marks on rear cover, bookseller stamp on front cover, else very good. [Attributes: First Edition; Soft Cover]
