Bachelet was one of the authors-directors of the Historical Dictionary of Biography, a company of writers, artists, publicists and scholars. This dictionary was produced with the collaboration and co-direction of M. Ch. Dezobry. Louis Charles Dezobry (17981871) was a French historian and historical novelist. Jean-Louis-Theodore Bachelet, (1820-1879), was a French scholar. He is the author of the famous Louis Charles Dezobry General Dictionary of biography and history, mythology, geography, ancient and modern compared antiques and institutions Greek, Roman, French and foreign. Paris, 1857 and 1863. Reissue: Paris, in Delagrave, 1889 (2 volumes, 2989 pages),the Dictionary of Biography and History, Paris, 1863 (in collaboration with Louis Charles Dezobry), and the Dictionary of Arts, Fine Arts and Moral and Political Sciences, Paris, 1863 (in collaboration with Louis Charles Dezobry). He was also the author of books of simple extension, published under his name or under the pseudonyms of Grove or Mignan by Mgard editions of Rouen: The Hundred Years War (1852), The French in Italy in the sixteenth century (1853), History of Napoleon I (1854), the Great French ministers: Suger, Jacques Court, Sully, Richelieu, Mazarin, Colbert (1855), St. Louis king of France (1863), Francis and his century (1869), the illustrious men of France (1874). Complete in two volumes. Condition: In half morocco bindings with marbled boards. Externally sound although a bit rubbed. The hinges have been reinforced but are slightly strained a few pages in. Internally, firmly bound. Bright and generally clean with instances of light scattered spotting. Overall: VERY GOOD..
