Edges a little rubbed; very nice copy.. NCBEL II, 2066; Sabin 32702. 4 vols, 8vo, contemporary calf, red morocco labels, gilt rules and lettering. A wide ranging work on the arts, language, society, law, manners, the poor, government, science, war, theology, morality, etc., by the prolific Scottish writer and jurist Henry Home (1696-1782). In volume three is a substantial chapter on the American Indians. Home was an important figure in the Scottish Enlightenment. Contemporary ink signature on each paste-down.
