Bonn Friedrich Cohen 1895. Oblong folio. Original textured black cloth with blind-stamped rules, gilt titling to upper. 1f. (title), iii-xi textual commentary in German by Erich Prieger; 31 pp. facsimile of autograph manuscript. Boards with minor wear, light circular stain to upper board.. With a manuscript inscription to the title from (?Rudolph) Middecke to Dr. J. L. Corning and with a muscical quote from the opening of Beethoven's 5th symphony in Middeck's hand. James Leonard Corning (1855-1923) was a neurologist in New York who is known as one of the first, if not the first doctor, to successfully perform a spinal anesthetic. He was also a pioneer in the field of music therapy. Middecke was a German composer and pianist who emigrated to New York. He was a member of the Tönkunstler Society of New York. Rare. A fine early facsimile, printed on art paper.
