London: Printed for William Miller, 1809. . London: Printed for William Miller, 1809. . First edition, three volumes, 4to. 61 plates, 3 vignettes and 8 maps and plans, of which 6 are folding. Bookplates of Henry Cecil, 5th Earl of Lonsdale, in volumes I and II, bookplate removed from volume III. Contemporary diced russia, blind stamped borders within gilt rules, subtly rebacked retaining the original gilt tooled backstrips, these somewhat faded, gilt monogram of the 2nd Earl, William Lowther, to the centre of the covers. Some minor marks, a very good set. A handsomely illustrated work, mostly by Henry Salt, who was appointed as the Viscount’s secretary and draughtsman.
