First edition, one of 150 copies printed by David Bland and Vivian Ridler at the Perpetua Press, which they ran between 1931 and 1936, when they were still in their early twenties. A collection of English nursery rhymes with a hand-colored, illustrated title page, and fifteen full-page hand-colored linocuts by the illustrator Biddy Darlow. The rhymes include "Baby Bunting," "Daffy Down Dilly," "Three Wise Men of Gotham," "Hot Cross Buns," and "Simple Simon." Fifteen Old Nursery Rhymes was chosen as one of the First Edition Club's "50 Best Books of the Year" for 1935, and Vivian Ridler later printed the Bible on which Queen Elizabeth II swore her coronation oath in 1953. He also served as the printer to the University of Oxford from 1958 to 1978, and revived the Perpetua Press imprint during the 1970. Very fine in a variant binding of sage-green cloth over ecru cloth, wrapped in a mylar dust jacket.
