Printed for Thomas Tegg, London 1809 - First edition in contemporary green, cloth-backed marbled boards with a paper title label to the spine. The corners are worn and rubbed and there is some bumping to head and tail of the spine. Un-cut edges. The inner hinges exposed but the boards are holding well. The frontispiece is water-stained on lower third and there is some browning and spotting throughout. Engraved frontispiece and 3 fold-out plates, 1 with working volvelle. Folding letter-press table. Original, unrestored condition with no previous owner marks. Pp. xii, 316 plus plates. Extremely rare volume by this gifted amateur astronomer. Not in BL or on COPAC.
