Los Angeles: Dwan Gallery, 1964. First edition Three photographically illustrated scrolls, measuring 6 3/4 x 35', each printed by offset lithograph, housed in a photographically printed card box. The scrolls were once glued together at one end, and have come unglued, as is common to the title, else fine; box addressed and mailed, and near fine with some creasing and rubbing to extremities. The beautiful catalogue for this show of boxes at Dwan Gallery, the invitation which was of course also a box. Each contribution is documented with a photo of each piece, along with text. The exhibition included Andy Warhol's Heinz Tomato Ketchup and Brillo Boxes - Glenn states is "arguably their first public display." [Glenn p. 104] Also includes works by Marcel Duchamp, Kurt Schwitters, Louise Nevelson, Ben Talbert, Joseph Cornell, Larry Bell, Edward Keinholz, Ronald Miyashiro, Martial Raysse, Anthony Berlant, Tom Wesselmann, James Rosenquist, Letty Eisenhauer, Robert Watts, Al d'Arcangelo, Aaron Kuriloff, Richard Artschwager, Gerd Stern, George Brecht, John Willenbacher, Robert Morris, Robert Rauschenberg, H. C. Westermann, Boris Lurie, Lucas Samaras, Jim Dine, Lee Bontecou, Kenneth Price, William Waldren, David Jacobs, and Kuwayama.
