How the Wogglebug Got a Thanksgiving Dinner
Kansas City, Missouri: The Kansas City Journal, 1904. One leaf from the newspaper. Paper is toned and brittle. There are a few small chips in the margin and a couple of closed tears. Baum produced a 27-part comic strip series, Queer Visitors from the Marvelous Land of Oz, which ran weekly from 4 Sep 1904 to 26 Feb 1905 to fuel demand prior to the release his second Oz book, The Marvelous Land of Oz. This story was the fourteenth in the series and the third featuring the Woggle-Bug. The full-page strips ran in Philadelphia North American, Chicago Sunday Record-Herald, and other newspapers. The Woggle-Bug character proved so popular that Baum created a play and book based on his adventures in early 1905.. First Edition. Newspaper. Very Good. Illus. by McDougall, Walt.
