The Executioner's Song (Signed)
Boston: Little, Brown & Co., 1979. First edition / First printing.. Hardcover.. A fine copy in a fine dust jacket.. Octavo. Meticulous and exhaustive examination of the events leading up to and surrounding the execution of Gary Gilmore by the state of Utah for murder. Winner of the 1980 Pulitzer Prize, the novel is distinguished not only by its exhaustive approach, but also by its contribution to the national debate on capital punishment at the time, most notably in that Gilmore was the first prisoner to be executed following the reinstatement of capital punishment by the Supreme Court in 1976. ~Basis for the superb 1982 television movie, directed by Lawrence Schiller and starring Tommy Lee Jones (who won an Emmy), Christine Lahti and Roseanne Arquette. ~SIGNED by the author on the front flyleaf. A fine and unread copy in a just about fine dust jacket, with only a tiny snag at the heel. ~A pristine example of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, seldom found signed and in such condition.
