London, J. Redington, 73 Hoxton Street, Hoxton, circa 1870.. Circa 1870, approximately 172 x 220 mm, 6¾ x 8½ inches, 19 hand coloured sheets as required: 8 plates of characters, 8 plates of scenes, and 3 wings, plus original booklet printed and published by J. Redington, 208 Hoxton Old Town and sold by J. Webb price fourpence, with play and stage directions: 165 x 105 mm, 6½ x 4 1/8 inches, no wrappers called for, 16 pages of text including covers. All plates but the 3 side wings are published by Redington, the Pollock side wings are numbered 2, 13 and 39 (the latter "to suit any play"), whereas the booklet calls for the following numbers: 2, 10 and 19. One or two faint fox spots to margins of 14 plates, spine of booklet lightly stained, not showing inside, lower cover dusty with a few fox spots, a little spotting to margins within. A very good plus complete set of sheets and with the rare booklet. The play by M.G. Lewis was first performed in 1811 at Covent Garden and a juvenile drama version of it was issued by Jameson, West, Hodgson, and others before Redington published his version circa 1870.
