The Dispatches and Letters of Vice Admiral Lord Viscount Nelson, with Notes By Sir Nicholas Harris Nicolas, G.C.M.G. The First [-Seventh] Volume
London, 1845-1846: Henry Colburn. First Editions. 8vo. Seven volumes. Portrait frontispiece of Horatio Nelson to FEP of Vol I, four facsimile letters and three battle plans, two of which folding. With original eratta leaf and advertisements tipped to FEP of Vol I. Original publisher's navy cloth, decorated in gilt and blind. A near fine set with some slight fading and a little spotting to spines. A crisp set, with all hinges intact, a rare feat in this set as the paper of the book blocks is higher quality, heavy stock. Some remains of paper/adhesive, and some ink blotting, where bookplates have evidently been removed. This collection of more than 3500 letters and dispatches remains the standard edition of Nelson's private and naval correspondence.
