Passing of the Armies
Putnams, New York & London 1915 - From commanding the 20th Maine (whose actions were recalled in Michael Shaara's historical fiction novel The Killer Angels and the 1993 movie Gettysburg) and earning the Medal of Honor at Little Round Top to the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox, Colonel (later General) Chamberlain participated in many of the Civil War's pivotal moments. Posthumously published after his post war career as Governor of Maine and president of Bowdoin College, this book deserves to be in any serious Civil War collection. Pencil gift inscription "1918" on free end paper, wear to head/tail of spine and bumping to corners. Text appears to be unread and is near perfect after almost a century. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
