New York: Charles Scribner's Sons,, 1903–4. Translated from the Russian by Isabel F. Hapgood. With and Introduction by Henry James. 16 volumes, large octavo (228 × 154 mm). Finely bound in contemporary brown crushed half morocco, spines gilt in compartments with titles direct, light brown cloth boards with gilt rules, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Illustrated throughout with photogravures (including tissue guards). A beautiful set with the spines sunned on seven volumes; all in excellent condition. The uncommon Scribners limited edition of Turgenev's works; no 73 (consistently throughout the set) of 204 copies printed on Ruisdael hand-made paper at the De Vinne Press.
