Novels: Sense & Sensibility; Emma; Pride & Prejudice; Mansfield Park; Northanger Abbey [bound together with] Persuasion; A Memoir by her Newphew J. E. Austen Leigh, to which is added Lady Susan and fragments of two other unfinished tales
London: Richard Bentley & Son; [volume 6 by] Macmillan & Co.,, 1886-1901. 7 volumes bound as 6, octavo (182 × 125 mm). Finely bound by Arthur S. Colley in contemporary olive half morocco, green cloth sides with gilt rules, spines gilt in compartments, marbled endpapers and top edges gilt. Engraved frontispieces. Spines sunned, very slight rubbing to extremities; an excellent set. A finely bound library set of the Bentley edition (originally published in 1833) of Austen's collected novels. The final volume in the set is an early Macmillan reprint (first published 1869 and transferred from Bentley to Macmillan in 1898 though retaining the Bentley engraved portrait frontispiece of Austen) of J. E. Austen Leigh's A Memoir of his aunt Jane Austen, with added Austen's "Lady Susan" and fragments of two other unfinished tales, thus making the set, in effect, Austen's complete works.
