Seminary's rubber stamps below printed portion of dedication leaf, overlapping upper border of last page, and on endpapers. Light fading to page edges. Pages otherwise clean and unmarked. Text includes 889 photos and illustrations. Felix Ritter von Luschan was an Austrian doctor, anthropologist, explorer, archaeologist and ethnographer. In 1905 he became Director of the Africa and Oceania Department at the Königliches Museum für Völkerkunde in Berlin (the present-day Ethnological Museum). In this capacity he acquired one of the most important artistic collections of the highest quality of west Africa, including ivory carvings and bronze figures presented in his opus magnum â??Die Altertümer von Beninâ?? (The Antiquities of Benin).
