Guggisberg 1981". Some minor foxing. A narrow split to the gutter between the front free endpaper and the half-title page. Cloth boards and spine are clean, bright and unfaded. Folding map has a 1/2" tear to the blank inner stub. Folding map clean with no foxing. A nice copy. ; xv, [1], 328 pages + frontispiece + 20 illustrations on 15 plate leaves + folding colour map at rear. Charcoal grey cloth covers with gilt lettering on spine and pale blue-grey lettering on front board. Page dimensions: 220 x 141mm. An early 20th century expedition through one of the world's deepest gorges. The author was a plant collector, whose botanical interests triumphed over his fear of heights.
