Volume 1: xxiii, 417 pp., Volume 2: xv, 397 pp With 71 magnificent colored aquatint plates by Thomas Rowlandson (2), G. M. Brighty(1) T. Wageman (1), and Robert Cruikshank (67); one uncolored plate; 36 text wood-engravings; plus vignettes. Full crimson levant, with multiple gilt fillet borders with floral corner-pieces, spines richly gilt, inner dentelles, gilt top-edges, and raised bands. Bound by Riviere & Son with their stamp. First edition, apparently bound from parts, with the front wrappers of Parts 4 and 5 bound in at the end of each volume. A few illustrations show light off-setting. A large copy, with the first issue points: plate facing p. 389 dated 1284; page 222 in Vol. 2 blank. With the bookplate of Henry R. Bishop in each volume. In exceptionally fine condition.
