Oscar Peterson Trio Original Vintage 1965 German Concert Poster By Gunther Kieser [SIGNED]
Oscar Peterson Trio, Original Concert Poster, Germany, [1965], produced by Lippman & Rau, designed by Gunther Kieser and SIGNED by the artist to his imprint on the top right margin; also SIGNED by concert impresario, Fritz Lau, to the bottom right. A1 Format, (approx. 33" by 23" / 84 cm. by 59.7 cm), shallow crease to bottom margin at the centre, touch of wear and creasing with several short closed tears to the margin at bottom right, else near fine, clean, bright, unmarked, stored flat and shipped in a roll; a dramatic b&w illustration by Kieser, with the three faces of the trio members emerging from a single head, a characteristic device of the artist and used to great effect here. Gunther Kieser (1930) is one of Germany's preeminent poster artists whose work can be found in the collections of major museums including, the Tokyo Museum, the Louvre and the Museum of Modern Art . He has had a prolific and varied career, during which his technically innovative, provocative and brilliant designs have kept him in the fore front of European poster art. Kieser is perhaps best known for his jazz and rock concert posters, and particularly for the work he did for the German concert producers Lippman & Rau during the 1950-80's. This poster was designed and produced exclusively for Peterson's German concert tour of 1965 and is scarce thus, particularly SIGNED by the artist. J1670. Near Fine.
