Musical notation "The Aboriginal Corrobbery". 8vo, pp. viii:174:(1):29 (the addendum with separate title-page " Grammar of the Narrinyeri Tribe of Australian Aborigines" by the late rev. George Taplin, Adelaide: 1880), original crimson cloth, the upper cover elaborately blocked in gilt with an image of an Aborigine hunting Emu; the spine mottled and discoloured, the upper cover bright; decorative endpapers. Foxing to prelims., one leaf creased (binding fault). Nine of the plates are from drawings by Aborigines, e.g. "Hunting Party. Drawing by 'Yertabrida Solomon' an Aboriginal of the Coorong". The frontispiece and remaining 6 plates are original photographs, albumen prints, and depict "A Camp of the Narrinyeri, Lake Alexandrina" (the frontispiece) showing 8 Aborigines seated before a hut, two of the other photographs show weapons, mats, baskets etc. The remaining 4 photographs are individual portraits and depict "Waldaninyeri, a Woman of the Narrinyeri Tribe"; "Wewat-thelari, a Man of the Narrinyeri Tribe"; "Ngunaitponi, a Man of the Narrinyeri Tribe"; & "Mimukulari, a Woman of the Narrinyeri Tribe"; pp. 105-106 of this work give an explanation of the photographs, giving details of the Aborigines portrayed and of the weapons, mats, baskets, twine, girdles and necklaces shown. Very rare. Series 2 was not published.
