Parry & Co., London 1852 - First one volume edition, two volumes in one [x, 347; vi, 413 pages]; octavo; original publisher's red cloth, spine decorated in gilt; yellow coated end papers. All plates are present; plate listed as facing page 212 is facing 217. A very good unsophisticated copy, internally clean and bright. Spine a bit faded, wear at spine ends; front inner hinge cracked, overall very good. The author sailed from the East coast, around Cape Horn to California - three chapters relate his journey. One chapter describes the mineral wealth and geographical features of the area. Heritage Bookshop description, on letterhead is laid in, probably dating from the 1970's, showing address as 847 North La Cienega Blvd.
