Second edition (first was in 1808 - vi, 203 pp). 12mo, ORIGINAL BOARDS, paper spine label. viii, 148 pp. Page edges untrimmed. Engraved title page inserted before letterpress title, with a vignette engraved by Charles Heath after Richard Corbould. Front inner hinge and rear joint neatly and unobtrusively repaired with rice paper; chips to spine tips, with most label lettering rubbed away; ink name to front free endpaper; corner torn away from rear free endpaper; one inch tear to bottom margin of pp 15-16 (no text affected); tan stain to pp 102-07 from a floral specimen once laid in (no legibility affected); a few scattered minor tan spots in text; the text is otherwise clean, tight and unworn. Lamb's third juvenile published by Godwin, he intended it to be a continuation of FĂ©nelon's Adventures of Telemachus and he acknowledges drawing on Chapman's Homer.
