Philadelphia: P.H. Nicklin and T, Johnson, 1836. xxiii, 581 pp. Octavo (9" x 5-1/2"). Recent cloth, gilt title to spine, endpapers renewed. Light toning to text, somewhat heavier in places, light foxing to a few leaves. $250. * First edition. Kent said this work was, in the opinion of "the most competent judges," "learned, accurate and well digested." The preface indicates this work was edited by Sumner, who was then reporter of the decisions of the Circuit Court of the United States for the First Circuit. Dunlap was United States Attorney for Massachusetts from 1829 to his death in 1835. A second edition of this book was published in 1850.
