Franceys of Liverpool in contemporary half-calf, marbled boards, contrasting black morocco lettering-pieces, spines richly gilt, marbled edges. Rubbed, slight shipping to lettering-pieces. Armorial bookplates of Peter Bancroft to FEPs, later armorial bookplates and ink ownership inscriptions to FFEPs, very occasional light spotting. The first edition of a short-lived periodical conceived as a continuation of the six volumes of The Spirit and Manners of the Age printed between 1826 and 1829. The monthly magazine, a curious compendium of disparate articles on the arts and sciences, lasted for only a year. COPAC records a single copy of the first issue, held at Durham.
