Irish Child-Lore & Weird Legends & Strange Superstitions
- 40pp. typescript 4to. Undated. Circa 1950's/60's (?) Unable to find any reference as to whether this was ever published or not. Unlikely that it was. Divided into 8 chapters: Before the Birth; The Birth of the Baby; The Evil Eye; A Devil Compact; The Secret World of the Fairies; Irish Family Death Omens; Piseog. Unsure if complet or not - most of the typescript was clipped together when found & 3 additional pages starting at page number 2 were separate. So seemingly lacking one page. Author gives a FInglas address and in the preface recalls listening as a child to her parents around the fireside as they told "telling chilling and curious stories about the child-lore and legends of Ireland." She recalls that her grandmother was regarded by her friends and neighbours as an authority on child lore. She was born and reared in a rambling old farmhouse, in a wild isolated place in the North of Ireland." Further research merited.
