Bookseller's small label in the corner of the front fly, else about fine in lightly age-toned near fine dustwrapper with slight creases on the front flap. Signed by the author. Mississippi author's first novel, about a light-skinned black nurse passing for white in Boston. Ms. Sumner, who was white, was also the author of Tammy Tell Me True, basis for both the television series and the series of films that retained the title character (played by both Sandra Dee and Debbie Reynolds).
