Cloth Loose Letter Alphabet.
Akron: Saalfield, 1914. An unusual set of twenty-six muslin shaped books, one for each letter of the alphabet, housed in their original, colorfully printed box. Inside each book is simple text relating to the respective letter, with particular emphasis on vocabulary words, like "Cat," "Cake," and "Crumbs" for "C." Each book also features one or more color illustrations. Unrecorded in OCLC. The Saalfield Publishing Company operated from 1900 to 1977 and was once one of the largest publishers of children's materials in the world. When they ceased operations, a large collection of their publications went to Kent State University. Kent State, however, does not own this item. Letters show only scant soiling, but are otherwise bright and in unused condition. Box bumped at corners and edges and light staining to lid.
