Mania Days. The Beatles 1964 US Tour
UK: Genesis Publications, 2000. [Rock photo-documentary] DELUXE EDITION, signed by Stephen Gunther, curator of the Kurt Gunther archive. STRICTLY LIMITED; No 21 of 200 numbered copies, not to be confused with the 'Collector' edition which was numbered up to 2500. Deluxe copies were bound in full goatskin and include an exclusive photographic print of George Harrison by Gunther and an additional large printed limitation certificate SIGNED by the founder of Gensis Publications, Brian Roylance (1945-2005). With over 350 photographs, text by Beatles publicist Derek Taylor. Folio, in full black leather, blocked in gilt with all edges gilt, with an inlaid photo strip. Housed in a screen-printed slipcase. Fine/as new. The late Curt Gunther arrived in New York City from Berlin in 1941 to pursue a career in photography. By 1955 he was chief photographer for Keystone Pictures, and later set up his own photographic enterprise. In 1963, he photographed The Beatles in London, followed by a shoot in Central Park on their first US visit. Gunther was one of the select few allowed to accompany The Beatles during their 1964 tour, resulting in Mania Days: a lasting tribute to his talent.
